How to get to a BEST Course

It's really simple. There are just two prerequisites:

• You are a student of the Vienna University of Technology
• You want to go to one of our Courses!

Ok, so what do you have to do now?

Step 1: Check out the list of current courses!

You can find them here. Did you find some totally interesting topic? Or the city you've always wanted to go? Don't forget to have a look at the not-so-obvious choices! Feeling the urge? Just take the next step!

Step 2: Create an Account in the BEST Application System (BAS)

Go to www.best.eu.org/student/register/disclaimer.jsp and create a new account! Fill in all of the information. As Identification number, enter your Matrikelnummer!

Step 3: Validate your Account!

So, now you have your account, but we have to make sure you are who you claim to be.  Visit us at our weekly meetings, or send us an email if you don't have time! Don't panic if your account isn't validated yet - You can come and validate up to 3 days after an application deadline. But don't forget about it! Applications from invalid accounts are discarded automatically!

One note: We validate your account for as long as your student id is valid (e.g. one semester). If it's been some time since you validated, check your status in the BAS!

Step 4: Apply to Courses!

Actually, you can start doing this as soon as you created your BAS account. The most important part is the motivation letter. 

Step 5: You get accepted or not

Usually about two week after the application deadline, you will get the notification, whether you were accepted to a course (Yay!) or not (Sorry!). If not, don't despair - the next season of courses ist just around the corner!

Step 6: Confirm your Intent by paying the Deposit to BEST Vienna

Now you have to commit to going to the course. Come to our weekly meetings and pay us the Deposit to confirm your Intent to go to the course. You will get back your deposit after you successfully attended and evaluated the course! We will give you a written payment confirmation. Please take care and don't lose it!

If you changed your mind, and don't want to go - just tell us. Please do it as soon as you know, so others can take the place instead of you!

Step 7: Do the Course!

Get in touch with the organisers (usually a mailing list), the other participants, attend the course and have the BEST time of your life there!

Step 8: Evaluate and get Deposit back

You wish it could last forever. But the course has ended anyway. Don't forget now to enter your mandatory evaluation of the course in the Application system! There's a Deadline to obey, so it's best to just do it after you get home!

After the Evaluation Deadline, BEST Vienna will invite you to get your Deposit back, and maybe have some more fun with us :)
