SC 2010 Urban Invaders

Urban Invaders - where to put what.

Be honest to yourself – for sure you have experienced being caught up in a traffic jam and you wondered why everybody is going in the same direction, and you cursed yourself for driving at that very time, and the car driver in front of you, and the fool who overtook you at the last stop sign, and the guy responsible for planning the roads, and the person in charge for timing the traffic lights, and ...

BEST Vienna Summer Course 2010

... to get a glimpse of what is behind spatial planning in general and dimensioning roads and other traffic arteries in particular, and how to take into account special economic, ecological and social constraints, you will be introduced to basic methods and tools for spatial and transport planning, respectively, in the context of different spatial, urban conditions. Amongst others, you will learn more about the nature and abilities of traffic, gain insight in assessing traffic situations and corresponding problems and how to tackle them – of course, not only in the context of Vienna, but all of Europe! Since visualisation plays an important role in today's world, you will learn creative ways how to comprehensibly display spatial and traffic situations, too.

Still, this course is not only about dull theory taught in seminar rooms! You will also get to see the historic city of Vienna, once the heart of half of Europe. You will party all night and work all day. You will visit more Austrian scenic spots on our weekend trip than you solely could see in Vienna. As a matter of course, you will taste some of Austria's excellent wines, too! But, that's not all -- at the end, you will know why every year so many tourists visit this city's splendour in order to feel the atmosphere of both past imperial and modern times.

Vienna is waiting for you!
